Underfloor Heating

There are two types of Underfloor Heating, "Electric" & "Wet"

Electric

The StickyMat System consists of a thin loose wire evenly spaced and taped to a glassfibre mesh with pressure sensitive adhesive, which allows for the fastest and most secure installation method of electric underfloor heating.

Heating mats are made from a self-adhesive mesh scrim with a heating cable attached. The mat design enables fast installation and an even heat distribution across the whole floor area.

Heating mats can be installed on top of either suspended timber floors, or solid concrete floors, enabling installation in all room types. Ideal floor coverings for use with this system include ceramic, stone, slate, porcelain, marble, limestone, travertine and terracotta.

Underfloor heating is also available in a loose format, ideal for those smaller installations or for rooms with an irregular layout and as an in-screed system designed for a new build situation.

Wet

The "wet" system is more commonly used in a new build house where the pipework can be laid into the floor screed / insulation with ease. This will then eventually match up with other underfloor heating systems / radiators and connect to the house boiler.

All Heated Floors

Must be controlled by a thermostat connected to a floor temperature probe. By directly measuring the floor temperature, the thermostat ensures that the floor tempertaure remains constant and can not rise beyond the specified limit.

The 4iE learns how you use your heating and the unique way your house performs. It automatically suggests ways for you to save energy, e.g. what temperature you should set for when you are not at home and even when to turn the heating off early before you leave.

It’s a possibility the wet system is more cost effective to run, however in an existing build the electric system would more than likely be cheaper to install.
